First launched in 2021 and newly refreshed, our Mental Health Charter reaffirms our unwavering commitment to creating workplaces where every employee’s mental health and wellbeing are actively supported and prioritised.
Why sign a Mental Health Charter?
Adopting the principles of a Mental Health Charter is a simple but powerful way to show that your organisation genuinely cares about the people who work in it. This Charter is all about creating workplaces where people feel safe, supported, and able to be themselves, and signing it is how you say, “Yes, this matters to us.”
We acknowledge that mental health affects everybody at some stage of life and that in people don’t have to struggle alone or in silence.
The Charter sets out a clear vision where wellbeing is part of everyday life, not an add on. Where people feel safe to speak up, where inclusion is the standard, and where businesses grow because their people are supported to thrive.
The Charter breaks things down into three simple themes and signing the Charter means you’re ready to put those ideas into practice in your own way:
- Lead the Change - Make mental health a genuine priority. Lead by example. Listen to employees. Keep learning and improving.
- Talk About It - Help create a workplace where conversations about mental health feel natural, where people can share experiences without fear of judgement, and where leaders feel confident having those conversations too.
- Support Matters - Make sure people know where to turn when they need help. Provide clear pathways, trained individuals, useful resources, and reassurance that confidentiality and compassion will always be at the heart of your response.
This isn’t an accreditation or a tick box exercise.
When you sign, you’re joining a community of Shropshire organisations who are choosing to take mental health seriously. You’re saying you want to be part of a business culture that lifts people up rather than letting stigma hold them back. And you won’t be doing it alone - you’ll have access to webinars, training, shared resources, and local partners who are all committed to the same mission.
