  • We are currently approving 85% of all business applications for credit
  • We are currently providing new loans to over 5,000 businesses a week
  • Our gross lending to businesses in the first half of 2009 totalled £17 billion
  • Commitment to make available £16 billion of additional lending to viable businesses of our commitment to make £3bn extra lending via 12 regionally managed funds of £250m
  • We are actively stepping in to support our customers however many companies are looking to reduce their debts rather than increase them – our own survey of SME’s shows that only 18% are looking to increase borrowing, when 20% are looking to reduce
  • To date we have led the field in taking applications for the Enterprise Finance Guarantee scheme, with over £220 million worth of loans already agreed or in the pipeline. Recent BIS figures also confirm that of all EFG lending across the industry, NatWest and RBS have provided nearly half of all loans drawn down.
